OUR HISTORY

images

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc., is led by President Phillip E. Lantz, who founded the company in 1972 with three employees. Today, nearly 500 talented and experienced employees provide decision support to key national security leaders.

SPA was founded on work primarily with the U.S. Navy, leading major technical support programs for the Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). Mr. Lantz oversaw the development and employment of powerful analytic tools which supported studies for SSP over a period of decades and led to numerous major decisions involving the Trident Weapons Systems.

Over the past three decades, the needs of our clients have evolved, and so has SPA. SPA has expanded its customer base and experience to cover a wide range of missions and clients in the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security. SPA services include:

  • Strategic planning
  • Technical analysis
  • Systems engineering and technical trade-off analysis
  • Operations research
  • Program management consulting
  • Force structure analysis
  • Warfare assessments
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Cost and cost-effectiveness analysis
  • System acquisition support
  • Financial management support
  • Business process reengineering
  • Resource allocation planning

SPA is a privately-held company, so we are not distracted by stockholder demands, mergers and acquisitions. The steady growth of SPA has been organic, and a result of employees providing good work, which led to more good work.

SPA is proud of its 36-year history of contributing to robust decisions with the Department of Defense, and looks forward to continuing to perform interesting work that impacts important decisions.

SPA remains a privately-held company led by the same man who founded it with a vision of providing top-level decision makers with the high-caliber, objective technical support they need to make important national security decisions.
