Warfare Assessments
SPA has conducted numerous analyses to help top-level decision makers assess their current forces, future needs, and program options. Examples are the following:
Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Force Level Survivability and Effectiveness Analysis.
- Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) for the Navy's Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (TBMD) missiles to be launched from AEGIS class warships.
- Support of Navy's research for Battle Management, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (BMC4I).
- The U.S. Navy's first-ever Top-Level Warfare Requirements and Warfare System Architecture Assessments during the Cold War years.
- Development of the General Campaign Analysis Model (GCAM) -- modeling and simulation tool widely employed throughout the naval and joint arenas.
- Annual U.S. Navy ASW Task Appraisals from 1982 until they were discontinued in 1992.
- Joint Campaign Analysis, capability assessments, and special studies in support of OPNAV PPBS System
- SSBN Security Studies:
- Long-time participant in technology-based submarine security programs addressing force level issues.
- Currently assessing information security in light of post-Cold War realities.
