The Undersea Warfare Acquisition Support Group (USAG) provides undersea warfare technology acquisition community coordination and undersea concept development and experimentation.
USAG’s mission is to assist the Navy acquisition community in delivering the most effective and efficient undersea capabilities for an uncertain future.
Capitalizing on Navy ASW experience across all warfare areas, USAG applies diverse perspectives on the family of systems solutions DOD will require in order to pace the growing undersea threat. With an eye toward helping coordinate and stream-line ASW acquisition, USAG is currently focused on the following:
Undersea Concept Development and Experimentation
Planning, executing and analyzing undersea warfare exercises, experiments, and test events to include focus on operational concepts, metrics, technologies and assessments of results. Examples include:
- Undersea Dominance/Theater ASW Exercise 2004 Support
- Distributed Netted Systems Working Group
- ASW Experimentation Planning and Execution
- LCS ASW Spiral “A” Mission Package At-Sea Test
Undersea Technology Acquisition Community Coordination
Planning, analysis, insights and recommendations relevant to future development across all USW platforms. Providing NAVSEA with air, surface and subsurface USW expertise to assist with the planning and implementation of future USW capabilities. Examples include:
- Assisting the LCS Mission Module Program Office, PMS-420, with development and employment options for the ASW Mission Package
- Supporting IWS-5 in their mission to coordinate ASW across all the Navy Program Executive Offices (PEOs).
- Developing mission and agenda for the ASW Executive Steering Group, ASW Program Manager’s Steering Group, and the ASW Systems Engineering Team.
- Providing operational expertise in linking air, surface, and subsurface OPNAV and Acquisition communities
- Assisting Navy acquisition organizations with their common priorities/concerns in diverse venues
