The Undersea Warfare Analysis Group (USWG) provides analytic expertise to address the most pressing undersea warfare issues in a timely, objective and cost effective way. Utilizing a broad breadth of Undersea Warfare expertise and experience, USWG provides thoughtful, innovative, and objective support as a trusted agent to our customers.
USWG provides the following services:
Navy ASW Capability and Technology Assessments
- Perform Theater ASW campaign and mission level analysis for OPNAV campaign and force structure assessments to enable informed investment decision making; examples include:
- Near, mid, and far term ASW Campaign analysis and ASW force structure tradeoff studies
- Conduct warfighting assessments and tradeoffs of Navy ASW capabilities and technologies examining the military value in relevant Joint planning scenarios; examples include:
- Submarine Large Hull Array, Surface and Air Periscope detection systems, Littoral Combat Ship ASW mission module, and torpedo reliability tradeoffs
Joint Requirements Development
- Provide Joint Capability Integration Development System (JCIDS) expertise in drafting and staffing of the relevant ASW requirements documents supporting acquisition programs
- Derive the top level requirements (KPPs) consistent with current Joint and OPNAV planning scenarios and metrics; examples include:
- Surface Ship Torpedo Defense Capabilities Development Document (CDD) and Top Level Requirements Development
- Submarine Torpedo Defense System CDD and Top Level Requirements Development
- Joint Undersea Superiority ASW Capabilities Based Assessment and ASW Initial Capabilities Document (ICD) Development
Science and Technology Assessments
- Conduct ASW Science and Technology (S&T) assessments using a variety of analytic tools including:
- First Order Analysis using Operations Research Tools
- Campaign Level Models (General Campaign and Analysis Model)
- Alternative Future Worlds
- Provide CONOPS development and warfighting assessments, using current Joint planning scenarios and metrics, of Science & Technology/Research & Development systems and technologies to support design and transition decision making; examples include:
- Future Undersea Weapons Study – Weaponized UUV’s
- Collaborative Networked Autonomous Vehicle (CNAV) CONOPS Development and Analysis
- Sea Eagle ACTD CONOPS Development and Assessment
