Summer Internship Operations Research (GCAM) (JTAAD/OSAG)

The Joint Analysis and Assessments Division (JTAAD) provides timely and objective assessments to numerous clients.  The Operational Support Analysis Group (OSAG) provides timely and objective assessments to the United States Coast Guard’s Research and Development Center (RDC).  OSAG also leads SPA’s GCAM software development team.
• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Operations Research or Engineering.
• Previous Intern or classroom experience in operations research, and/or database programming or software development.  
• A passion for applying operations research methodologies to address complex problems.  
• Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Advanced Problem Solving Skills.  
• Computer Programming (C++, C#, VB.NET, VBA) is desired.
• Data Analysis (MATLAB, SAS, S-Plus, R) is desired.
• Methodology Development is desired.
• Application of Statistical Principles is desired.
• The ability and willingness to multi-task, and be capable of applying innovative analysis to solve client problems.  
• The ability to prepare and present complex ideas (including modeling methodologies and results) in a clear and coherent form. 
• A DoD clearance is desired.
Job Description:
Participate in analysis and assessments which integrate the technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business aspects across various elements of the Department of Defense. Working as a member of one or more focused project teams responsible for assisting government customers in the analysis of complex issues related to capability development, warfare analysis, and system acquisition. Duties may include database development, implementation and testing of M&S tools; data mining; statistical analysis; and preparation and presentation of analytical results.

Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship required.
