The Undersea Technology Assessment Group within SPA supports the Navy and other government organizations with timely and objective capability assessments, technology evaluations, and strategic planning that integrate the technical, operational, programmatic, policy, and business aspects of undersea warfare (USW) and broader Navy issues. UTAG provides mature, turnkey products that reflect all of the factors important to decision makers. Our clients include Flag Officers, Senior Executives, and others who require robustly integrated support.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess an interest in undersea warfare technology and a desire to solve difficult national security issues for the federal government. Coursework or experience in national security topics is also desired. Demonstrated skills at team-building, team leadership preferred.

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (or higher level) program at an accredited college/university and have completed at least your sophomore year.
• Must be pursuing a degree in the following areas: Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering.  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well within a team and with little supervision.
• Have a 3.0/4.0 overall GPA.
• Expertise in utilizing C++ programming (or other object oriented language).
• Experience in data visualization and/or graphical animation - display analysis results using innovative and creative graphics.
• Experience in applying analytical methods to address complex problems.
• Acute attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.U.S. citizenship and meet eligibility requirements for access to Secret level information.
Job Description:
Refine and expand UTAG’s existing Force Level GCAM® Models (object-oriented programming models). Intern will also develop analytical post-processing tools using MS Access (primarily) and Excel. Depending on progress and performance, the project may also include employing the model in analysis runs for Navy clients. The work requires developing an understanding of the existing model and data structures, disciplined programing and validation of new data manipulation codes, and the creation of displays showing the comparisons of complex data excursions in innovative and informative ways. The work entails independent study and research & development activities, collaboration with military and operations research analysts, and briefings to senior program managers.
  
    

Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship required.
