The Undersea Technology Assessment Group within SPA supports the Navy and other government organizations with timely and objective capability assessments, technology evaluations, and strategic planning that integrate the technical, operational, programmatic, policy, and business aspects of undersea warfare (USW) and broader Navy issues. UTAG provides mature, turnkey products that reflect all of the factors important to decision makers. Our clients are Flag Officers/Senior Executives and others who require robustly integrated support. UTAG delivers:
• Quantitative and qualitative modeling and analysis combined with extensive maritime operational and technical experience to develop integrated solutions to deterrence and warfighting challenges.
• Cost-effective platform, mission, payload, and operating strategies to address capability gaps and exploit opportunities to create asymmetric cross-domain effects.• Expert policy, technology, and business case assessments; requirements development; technology transition management; operational mission analyses; survivability studies; and program support.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Operations Research, Mathematics, Engineering, or Physics. 
• Master’s degree is desired.
• 3-5 years of operational surface warfare experience.   
• Surface warfare qualification.   
• Must have the ability to effectively contribute on teams developing rigorous analytic solutions to top-level Navy issues.
• The ability to exercise independent judgment and to work autonomously with minimal supervision.  
• Strong written and oral communication skills, the ability and willingness to multi-task, and be capable of professionally addressing client questions and issues.
• Must be proficient with the MS Office Suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
• Demonstrated ability in applying innovative concepts, quantitative tools and creative data visualization methods to address Naval issues.
• Experience in military operations analysis, including requirements definition, conduct of analyses of alternatives, and the JCIDS process is desired.
• Experience using MATLAB, Java, or other analytical software to solve complex problems is desired.
• Modeling and Simulation (M&S) experience is desired.
• Current DoD security clearance.  

Job Description:
Responsible for developing innovative concepts of operations and capability plans and for translating them into detailed written and graphical descriptions used to develop and support mission and campaign-level surface and undersea warfare analysis. Responsible for conducting military effectiveness analysis of alternative capabilities to inform the development of formal requirements and program plans across the spectrum of science and technology (S&T), research and development (R&D), and program acquisition. Support and eventually take a leading role in the development and employment of modeling and simulation analysis tools and in briefing analysis results to top-level government decision makers.

Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship required.
