John T. Burton

Division Director, Naval Surface Warfare Division (NSWD)

John Burton is the Director of the Naval Surface Warfare Division (NSWD). NSWD provides analytically-based decision support, acquisition and program support, and combat systems, sensor systems, and weapons systems engineering support to Surface Warfare and Manpower / Personnel clients. The division is composed of the Naval Surface Warfare Analysis Group (NSWAG) and the Naval Surface Sensors and Weapons Group (NSSWG).

Mr. Burton has nearly 30 years of experience with Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc., after beginning his career there as a college intern. Mr. Burton has provided comprehensive program management, policy assessment, and technical and analytical support to design, development, and operations of tactical and strategic weapons systems. His efforts have included assessing the potential programmatic and technical options for extending the life of the TRIDENT strategic weapon system. Mr. Burton also supported the safeguarding of critical military assets and resources through program planning, systems engineering, policy assessment, vulnerabilities and countermeasures analyses, and risk management in support of Nuclear Weapons Surety and Nuclear Weapons Security for both Navy and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) programs.

Mr. Burton received his Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations from the University of Virginia and a Master of Science degree in Operations Research from George Mason University. Mr. Burton currently possesses a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
