Photo of Ed WrightEd Wright leads the Systems Engineering and Analysis Division (SEAD), which conducts strategic and program planning, acquisition planning, systems engineering and effectiveness analyses across a spectrum of strategic nuclear and undersea warfare issues. SEAD also works to develop and transition emerging undersea technologies and systems for military applications. The Division is comprised of four groups: the Strategic Systems Analysis Group, the Ship and Systems Integration Group, the Undersea Technology Assessment Group, and the Joint Strategic Analysis Group.

Mr. Wright has more than 30 years of experience in the management, design, development, and implementation of nuclear and conventional weapons systems, systems effectiveness analyses, missile and submarine vulnerability assessments, nuclear weapons security, and top level weapon system engineering and acquisition processes. Mr. Wright has been with Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. since 1985, and has been responsible for overseeing the growth and sustainment of one of SPA’s core business areas, strategic nuclear deterrence, since 1993.

Mr. Wright has contributed to several studies of the nuclear weapons enterprise, and was a participant in the 2008 Defense Science Board study of Nuclear Deterrence Skills, jointly sponsored by the Department of Defense and Department of Energy. He recently provided research and expertise to the Congressional Advisory Panel on the Governance of the Nuclear Security Enterprise and their 2014 report, “A New Foundation for the Nuclear Enterprise.”

Mr. Wright holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University, Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia, and Engineering Management from The George Washington University.
